This project involved the development of a rural site in Södermanland to provide a cost effective dwelling for a family and guests.

 

The house is to be located on a gently sloping site with spectacular views towards lake Malsnaren. The client requested a structurally simple, cost effective house with seperate accomodation for their regular guests. The accomodation is therefore clearly arranged; family and guest accomodation 'zones' are located at either end of the house and are linked by a spectacular common space that includes kitchen facilities, dining and living areas. The simple form of the house, stipulated by local planning regulations, is characterised by the large 'dormer' window that provides views out from the living spaces towards the lake. The section drawing shows the undulating ceiling created by the dormer.

 

The two master bedrooms have timber bay windows that contrast with the dark grey stained timber cladding.
